Steam Heat

Steam heat is often found in an older dwelling as opposed to the newer houses. Does that mean it’s not a good way to heat your home? Not at all. In fact, there are still many great reasons to heat your home with steam.

First, if you have anyone in your home with extreme allergies, a steam heating system might be just what you need. The steam heat cuts back on having to replace filters that collect all the dust and dirt floating around in the air. Another positive for steam heating systems is the quality; it lasts quite some time compared to other heating units as long as it’s maintained regularly. Also, these heating systems couple nicely with older homes that have more of a historical or vintage look.

On the other hand, there are some negatives when it comes to installing steam heat systems that you should consider. Because the steam heat is pushed through the pipes, the heat is not evenly distributed throughout your home. To add to it, steam heating systems aren’t as conducive over time compared to a forced air unit. And if you live in an area where you would need air conditioning, you would have to have a separate unit installed, which in turn would cost a little more too.

One heating system isn’t better than the other and some people might not consider the negatives as that bad of problem to deal with. It’s better to know the pros and cons to different systems so you can make an informed decision. Either way, our team is experienced in all heating systems and will be able to install the right heating system for you and your family.
